I found this museum accidentally while in Harrison doing ancestry research. I was getting gas and looked up and there it was a block away. I had the pleasure of speaking with all of the research assistants while I was there and they were so helpful. I had a stumbling block in my research that I couldn't get around and they solved the problem. It had to do with the last name of Pillow, which had been spelled on various censuses as Pillow/Pillar/Piller/Pilla. One lady said, "Honey, if the census taker is at the door and he asked your gr-gr-grandma what her last name was, she probably replied with the typical Arkansas accent and said Piller, meaning Pillow." They helped me unravel my tangled mess of ancestors that day, drew out a map to my gr-gr-grands gravesite in Hilltop, copied records for me, made notes -- it was wonderful! I paid $2 to get in, which was really for the railroad museum but it was the best money I have ever spent. I've gone back for two more visits and get new information every time. Plan to spend a whole day and find your key that unlocks the door to your ancestors.
Excellent museum with very wide offering of articles. Much better than you would expect from a town the size of Harrison
Alot of great railroad when the railroad ran through Harrison.
Three floors of history you could spend a whole day looking at evening. It's a must!
